Lodging: Due to the state of Connecticut closing their campgrounds on Labor Day, we have had to move our camping location to privately-owned Lone Oak Campsites in East Canaan, Connecticut.
Lone Oak Campsites is 18 miles (a 20 minute drive) from our favorite fishing spots on the Housatonic. It is a convenient travel distance, has better amenities and dining than Housatonic Meadows Campgrounds. We can still gather around the campfire at night and you can choose to stay in tents cabins, or lodges.
We will be staying during “off-peak” times so lodging will be less expensive. Further, if I can get a headcount of committed parties, I will be able to get a group discount for lodging. The cost for staying at Lone Oak Campgrounds is:
• Tent Camping: $45/night for two people on a “non-hook-up” campsite.
• Birches Cabin: $100/night. There is only one Birches cabin that sleeps 5 people.
• Stewart Lodges: $155/night. There are three Stewart Lodges that sleep 4 people.
Rest rooms, showers, and free WiFi are available. Showers cost .25 cents for 7 minutes. The campground has it’s own store which has snacks and incidentals for purchase. For more information about the campgrounds check out their website:
